To visualize this complex network, Plotline.us developed Formula 1 Connections, an interactive data visualization that maps every F1 driver and team from 2000-2021. Using D3.js, this project reveals the intricate web of connections between drivers, teams, and their countries of origin.
Formula 1 Connections transforms decades of racing history into an intuitive, engaging experience, allowing fans and analysts to explore the fluid nature of F1 team structures. From Jordan Grand Prix’s evolution into Aston Martin to Jaguar Racing’s transformation into Red Bull Racing, the project showcases the sport’s dynamic landscape in a way that static charts and tables cannot match.
By blending data storytelling with interactive visualization, this project highlights how F1 is not just about speed on the track, but also about the ever-changing alliances behind the scenes.
